Program Objective:
To provide you with a comprehensive working knowledge of child development, early childhood education, and culturally sensitive and developmentally appropriate practices.
Program Description:
In our A.S. in Early Childhood Education, you will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of young children’s characteristics and development across all domains
- Articulate your knowledge of children, families, diverse cultures and community characteristics when building effective relationships with children and families
- Implement developmentally effective approaches to curriculum and instruction that are research-based and appropriate for diverse learners
- Apply knowledge of early childhood professional standards and ethical conduct
- Effectively and professionally communicate verbally and in writing
Program Outcomes:
You will be prepared to work in diverse and inclusive early childhood settings and demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity as early childhood practitioners. Career opportunities include assistant teacher or teacher in private or public early childhood center, Head Start and family childcare settings, paraprofessional in a Prekindergarten through 3rd grade classroom, in-home “nanny” childcare provider, home visitor, infant mental health specialist, family resource center parent educator, and social service specialist.
You will have earned half of the credits you need to earn Post University’s bachelor’s in Child Studies.
The Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education degree is not designed to fulfill the educational requirements for any educational credential, such as a state teacher’s license or an early childhood certification.
